Sarai Shavit is a poet, writer, literary editor and scholar. Winner of the Bessin Prize for Poetry, the Adelina Della Pergola Prize for Translated Fiction, the Goldberg Prize for Literature, and “Poetry On de Roth” Prize. She has published two prose books and three poetry collections to date. Her work has been published in various languages, and has appeared in various international magazines, including Granta, Tablet, Presence Poetry, place de la Sorbonne, and Signaturen.

Shavit is the winner of the US Study Center scholarship for excellence academic work and The Gisel Fellowship for Advanced Studies for her research on the concept of land in American literature. She has been a visiting lecturer at UC Berkeley and Cambridge University and at University of Turin. She is an alumna of the Jerusalem Editorial Fellowship and a member of the European Union’s Cultural Entrepreneurs program. Since 2021 and to this day, she has directed the residency program for emerging writers at Mishkenot Sha’ananim in Jerusalem. She currently lives with her family in Italy, where she serves as a visiting professor at University of Turin.
