Jordan Salama is a writer who frequently contributes to The New Yorker and National Geographic. His first book, Every Day the River Changes about a journey down Colombia’s Río Magdalena and the people who live along its banks, was named a Kirkus Reviews Best Book of 2021 and a top new travel book by The New York Times. Most recently, he is the author of Stranger in the Desert: A Family Story, which chronicles his search across Argentina for traces of his Syrian Jewish great-grandfather, a traveling salesman in the Andes mountains. His essays and reporting have also appeared in New York Magazine, The New York Times, and other publications. He graduated from Princeton University in 2019 and lives in New York City.
